Client: DSRA Architecture
Location: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
The new Simmons Sports Centre, which replaces a facility built over 50 years ago, features an NHL-size ice surface, walking track and outdoor pool with accessible washrooms. This new space provides year-round recreation opportunities for the Charlottetown community.
The outdoor pool and its mechanical system were designed by Aqua Plans Aquatic Consultants Inc. The pool includes six 25 metre lap lanes, an accessibility ramp, starting blocks, and two 1 metre dive stands. The mechanical system includes a recirculating pump, horizontal sand filters, chemical controllers and more, and was designed to be Net-Zero ready.
Working with DSRA Architecture Inc. and other project partners, our team provided the following services: structural tank design and engineering, pool mechanical design and engineering, pool finish design, waterproofing design and pool deck design.
