W.J. Henderson Centre

Client: Acapulco Pools and MJMA (Design/Build)

Location: Loyalist, Ontario

Opened in 1976, the W.J. Henderson Centre has long served Loyalist residents as a place for families to skate, swim, and attend community events. With more than $16.5 million in federal funding, the centre is undergoing a major renewal to enhance safety, accessibility, and environmental performance.

The new Community Hub will feature two new pools with aquatic changerooms, including a Family Changeroom, accessibility upgrades throughout the facility, energy-efficient systems to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in support of Net Zero readiness, and an Indigenous Legacy Space developed in collaboration with the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund.

Aqua Plans Aquatic Consultants Inc., in partnership with Chandos Construction, MJMA Architecture & Design, Acapulco Pools, and others, provided full recirculation system designs, layouts, and details for the new 8-lane, 25 m pool and the 1,500 sq. ft. warm water leisure pool.

Once complete, the W.J. Henderson Centre will provide the surrounding community with a modern, welcoming space for recreation, programs, and connection. To learn more, click here.
